Angus Calls Out Clement on Net Neutrality

Shortly before the holidays NDP MP Charlie Angus sent a letter to Industry Minister Tony Clement calling for regular CRTC compliance checks of ISP traffic management. This is exactly what SaveOurNe.ca has been calling on Clement to do. Thanks for the support Charlie!

Traffic Management Ruling Delivered!

The CRTC's traffic management ruling can be found here:

It looks to be a step forward, but there's more work to be done.

Key point:

primary ISPs may continue to apply ITMPs to retail Internet services as they consider appropriate, with no requirement for prior Commission approval.

. This means consumers or other parties will need to build a case and convince the CRTC particular episodes of throttling are unjust, otherwise the throttling can continue.

Rogers calls 10,000 comments a "consumer backlash"

In a recent interview with Toronto Star concerning the issue of "fee for carriage", Rogers vice-chairman Phil Lind said he deemed the fact that 10,000+ Canadians complained to CRTC about the issue, a massive consumer backlash.

Businesses Stand Up for Broadband Competition

A group of businesses have joined together for a "Campaign for Competitive Broadband" focusing on a recent CRTC decision regarding wholesale Internet services that will give Bell Canada/Telus the opportunity to limit competition and further enable them to become gatekeepers of the Internet.
