WHY: The Open Internet is Under Attack:

When we log onto the Internet, we take a lot for granted. We assume we’ll be able to access any Web site we want, whenever we want, at the fastest speed.

The biggest cable and telephone companies want to decide which Web sites, services and applications go fast or slow.

These companies have been caught:
1) Throttling or slowing Internet traffic to businesses and consumers;
2) Blocking access to web sites that criticized them;
3) Crippling consumer devices and applications.
